Gold membership is automatic upon completion of an Olympic Games, in which the Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) has participated as an official team physician. "Official" participation is deemed to have occurred when the DC was either credentialled as a Team Doctor at the Games, or attended on formal letter of invitation of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of that Nation, asking him/her to be a team doctor. These Doctors are entitled to wear the IAOCO Pin in Gold.
* February-1998 - the Board of Trustees passed a resolution proposed by Chairman, Dr. Press, and seconded by Dr. Santiago to add a new class of membership. Such members shall be known as "Members in Gold (Hon.)" [i.e.,Honorary]. Honorary Members in Gold are those individuals, who, having been at least a Member in Silver, has made such personal sacrifices, and contributions to the Olympic Movement in General, and to Olympic Sports Chiropractic specifically, that these accomplishments must of necessity be recognized. These Doctors may wear the IAOCO pin in Gold, and list their membership as "Member of IAOCO in Gold (Hon.)".
Automatically inducted as Silver Members are all DC's who meet the following requirements. They must have been actually treating athletes at the site of an Olympic Games, as an invitee of an NGB, or have been Official NOC team physicians at regional games, e.g. the Pan Am Games, Pan Asian, Games, etc. All DC's who have served in any other official, legal capacity at an Olympic Games, Regional Games or Olympic Sports Festival may apply for membership. All such members, when accepted, may wear the IAOCO pin in Silver.
